WHAT IS NATUROPATHY?
As a Naturopath I consider the whole person - body, mind, physical, mental, emotional - when taking the case history of a client. Rather than focusing on or treating a specific symptom or illness on its own, Naturopathy takes a holistic approach and is based on the belief that the body has the innate ability to heal itself with the right support. Naturopathy is also based on the principles of balance - by addressing the underlying causes, balance can be restored in the body and mind and the body's systems are able to function at optimal levels, increasing a person's overall sense of well-being.
Naturopathy utilises a variety of therapies and treatment options, which are fully customised to the client's needs. As your Naturopath I am trained in the use of herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, diet and lifestyle advice, flower essences, homeopathy and massage. If I feel you may benefit from another modality such as Chiropractic, Remedial Massage, Kinesiology, Acupuncture etc I may refer you on to a practitioner or your GP for further treatment. You may also require blood tests or other functional tests.
Naturopathy is beneficial for preventative health care, and for addressing a wide range of conditions including digestive complaints, allergies, auto-immune conditions, hormonal conditions including infertility and menstrual problems, reduced immunity and weight loss. I have a special interest in infant and children's health, pregnancy support and mental health. I am a firm believer that there is no all-or-nothing approach with regards to combining natural therapies and allopathic medicine. Both play a very important role in healthcare and I strongly believe in working with Doctors and other health care practitioners to ensure the best outcome for a client's health.
Initial Consultation (Health Assessment):
During this initial consultation I will record a thorough health history. This assessment will cover all the body systems including physical and emotional aspects, as well as covering previous illnesses and conditions . The consultation is designed to create a holistic picture of your health and well-being, and to look for any underlying causes.
The consultation may also include some diagnostic procedures such as zinc level testing, tongue and nail diagnosis, or taking your pulse and blood pressure.
After this appointment, I will take your information and formulate a treatment plan. Treatment plans may include dietary and/or lifestyle advice, a prescription of nutritional supplements, herbal medicines, massage or other custom formulations.
At your first follow up I will go through your treatment plan with you. The treatment plan will include client advice, any prescriptions for supplements and medicines, referrals for testing or to other health practitioners if needed, and a follow-up plan which includes reviewing your progress to support you through your journey.
60 minutes $130
** To save time at your first appointment, you can pre fill the new client form online here. Alternatively please arrive 10 minutes before your initial consultation to fill in the new client paperwork.
Follow Up Consultations:
As part of your treatment plan, follow up appointments will be booked in to support and review your progress through your journey, or to discuss any new symptoms or issues that may be of concern. These appointments will usually be anywhere between 2-4 weeks, depending on the treatment plan. Longer term, follow ups may be booked every 3-6 months.
It is important to remember that Naturopathy is not a quick-fix therapy. Symptoms, imbalance and disorders develop over a long period of time - and so it can take time to bring things back into balance.
